This beautiful engagement session happened at the Bonneville Salt Flats, which is about 2 hours west of Salt Lake City, Utah. The Salt Flats are typically white throughout the year. But every once in awhile after a good rainstorm, you’ll find them flooded! Which ends up giving you a mirror look and some insanely cool photos! If you have the opportunity, definitely plan your engagement session, bridals, or even your elopement, at the Bonneville Salt Flats!
Earlier this year, I was thinking about the direction I wanted my business to go. And I decided that I wanted it to be more LGBTQ+ friendly. Up until this point, I hadn’t worked with any LGBTQ+ couples. But being inclusive in all aspects of my life, including my business, is very important to me.
I met Erin in a Facebook group about this time last year, and we hit it off pretty quickly. She helped me through deconstructing my faith, and was there in a time when I really needed new friends!
So, I asked Erin if her and her girlfriend, Mia, would model for me in a styled session. She said they would love to, and we started planning!
Erin had just ordered Mia’s engagement ring, and asked if she could propose during their session. Of course I said HELL YEAH!!
I think Mia may have had a little bit of an idea of what was happening, but not 100%. When Erin was ready, I positioned them to face away from me. And then acted like I needed to go up and fix Erin’s shirt. But I was actually handing her the ring haha. I then instructed them to turn and face each other, which was when Erin got down on one knee!
It was an absolutely beautiful night at the Salt Flats, and Mia actually gave Erin her ring as well!
I got to photograph their mountain elopement a few months later, which was even more beautiful! They have become some of my favorite people and such dear friends. I love them so much!
Your work is stunningly beautiful! You capture their essence in these photos!
Thank you so much! I’m glad you can feel that through their photos! π
