Have you heard about blue hour? If not, you are totally SLEEPING on a magical time of the day that gives the most amazing lighting. Blue hour is the time right before the sun rises and right after the sun goes down.
Most photographers love and prefer to shoot during golden hour (hour after the sun rises or the hour before the sun sets). Rightfully so – the lighting during that time of day is stunning. But me? I would dare to say I love blue hour more. But it doesn’t last as long, so I like to start my sessions an hour before the sun goes down, and end with this dreamy night lighting.
This session with L & A was up in Big Cottonwood Canyon, which is part of the Wasatch Mountains in Northern Utah, just 10 minutes from my home! Living in this beautiful place is a dream. And I love photographing couples at this magical time of the day!
This session was special to me because L is a longtime friend of mine, and we met when she was serving a service mission for the church we both used to belong to. We have both left the church since then, and are living our best lives. And it is just so dang fun to see people from my past life who have chosen the same path I did, and are living as their most authentic self! And I couldn’t be happier to see her with her lover. L & A met when they were kids and reconnected years later as adults. And I just think that’s the coolest thing! After all these years, they were able to find each other again. What a freaking cute story!
I hope you enjoy this session as much as I did. And make sure you check out some of the other blogs I’ve written for tips and inspiration!
